A New Batch

of fabric has just been added to my Young by Design Meylah store.

Be sure to drop by and stock up on 100% name brand cotton fabrics.  The prices are much lower than most quilt stores and in some cases even lower than JoAnn's, Hancock Fabrics and Hobby Lobby.  Don't miss out on this opportunity to increase your stash without breaking the bank!!

I'm not running out of fabric anytime soon so stay tuned for more fabrics that will be added to my store.  So go grab a cup of coffee or hot tea and let's spend a few moments together ogling over some beautiful fabrics.

Please feel free to give a shout out to all your crafty friends to come on over and have a little look-see.  Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

Mail Goodies

Yesterday I came home to find three (3) envelopes from Etsy sellers in my mailbox.  I'm enjoying finding small treasures from small business owners and last week I made a few purchases.  I'm participating in Cheryll's Santa Sack Swap so I can't show any of the goodies except this one.

I enjoyed the concept of this Etsy seller.  She apparently sent out postcards to numerous crafty type people asking one specific question each month regarding their craft.  Their answers are short and sweet and compiled in her monthly zine.  I'm adding them to my collection of crafty zines.

Weekend Wonders

Sometimes things go terribly awry and then sometimes things just click.  Friday was a horrible day at work.  We are still using an ancient software for part of our tax returns and it's so outdated that there is no support for it.  Well, last year it blew up on someone else and on Friday it blew up on me.  Yikes!  I spent most of the day trying to recreate and just when I finished, saved and moved on, I found out that it did not work and I was back to square one.  So tomorrow will be spent trying to deal with that mess.

But, forget about Friday (I have).  I enjoyed my weekend.  Saturday I did a 30 lap swim and I made improvements in my time.  I also spent some time getting my new Meylah store up and running and then did some more sewing.  Today I started my day with a 10 mile bike ride followed by a 2.2 mile run.  The legs felt good running and even though it feels like I'm running in slow motion, I actually posted a decent time.  Next up was a quick trip to the bookstore to stock up on some magazine inspiration.  (Now I need some down time to enjoy them!)  I also finished piecing my scrap quilt so hopefully it'll get quilted next weekend.

All in all, it's been a good weekend.  My homemade pizza with green peppers fresh from the garden is now awaiting me so until next time I hope everyone had a GREAT weekend also!

These are the views out of my 6th floor office window:
The fountain has a bronze horse in it.
There are quite a few concerts that happen on the steps of City Hall.  Trust me, my building is not sound proof and I can hear every note played and sung.  It would be enjoyable if the whole work thing didn't get in the way!!

 First tomato of the season
First bell pepper that made its way to the dinner table tonight!

The Ultimate DeStash Project

I've finally done it!!  I opened a fabric store on Meylah.com and I've added some of my large quantities of fabric.  Please go have a little look-see.  I still have many more bolts of fabric to add so come back often and take a look around.  The fabrics are name brand good quality 100% cotton fabrics, perfect for your quilting projects.  (See Meylah store button on right hand sidebar.)

I'm sure there are some kinks to work out so please let me know if you have problems ordering.  I am sure there are some problems with shipping as right now it is only charging an amount for 1 or 2 yards of fabric.  If more yardage is purchased, the price will have to be altered and I will notify you in an email.

At the present time I have not engaged the International shipping function as I think it's probably not very cost effective to mail fabric outside of the United States.  No matter how inexpensive the fabric is, I can't see that there would be a huge savings once shipping is added on.  Please let me know if you think this may be an incorrect statement and I'll revisit the subject.

I have stated on each of the fabrics that if you'd like something other than 1 yard increments to please email me and I can cut 1/2 yard, 1/4 yards, fat quarters, etc.  If you'd prefer to order and pay by check, please email me and I will send you the amount due and once payment is received I will mail the fabric.

I hope you enjoy the fabric show!!  Let me know what you think.

A GREAT Mail Day!!

Yesterday was just a typical Monday.  Okay, not exactly typical since I had the day off and I wasn't bound to my desk chair all day!  I was able to go to the gym in the middle of the day and experience what it feels like to work out in a non-packed gym.  It's nice, by the way.  Anyway, when I arrived home I had this mailer . . . from Australia . . . on my front porch.  Jan-Maree from Cherry Red Quilter sent me a pay it forward gift.  It was like hitting the jackpot.  I scored the loot for sure.  She is such a generous person.  Please go visit her blog and look at all the wonderful goodies she makes.

Bag of Goodies!!
It was 93 degrees yesterday so these puppies were a little melted.  Not to worry . . . I promptly put them in the freezer and later on I had a little nibble on them . . . very tasty . . . especially the honeycomb!!

Isn't this bag gorgeous??  Don't worry, I kept it away from my sweaty clothes!!
And then there were these unique buttons.  They are the Echidna animal which is native to Australia.
I also received another zine in the mail to add to my collection.
And lastly, I made myself a new pincushion.

It was a GREAT day indeed!!

Another Weekend Spent

It's Monday.  I'm not ready.

I'm participating in Cheryll's Santa Sack swap and so on Saturday I sewed up the sack part of the swap.  Unfortunately I cannot post pictures.  Bummer.  It's really nice though and I'm very pleased with it.

Last Sunday I ran the Wichita Half Marathon and I set a PR.  The weather was cold, overcast and windy.  The beauty about running is that even when the spectators are bundled in coats and blankets, the runners are still out there in shorts and technical tees and it doesn't really feel cold.  Except for the North winds, the weather was perfect.  We ran along the Arkansas river bank and the family was there to greet us at miles 5 and 8.  It was a great run and it was so nice to share it with family.  Of course, now that the run is over, I hurt my neck this week and I only got one run in and a 22 lap swim at the pool.  It's always something, huh?!!  I'm back in training, though, as I signed up for a triathlon in 4 weeks.  I must be mad as it's on my birthday and I actually consider this a present to myself!!  Yikes!!
