Inspired Weekend

So, I was 3 days into a 4 day weekend and still I hadn't done anything creative. Today was the day. First up was this little gem:

Recognize the fabric??? It was leftover from the yoga bag I previously made.

Next up was binding on a UFO:
And it was added to the pile of charity quilts:

Next on the list was another batch of envelopes drawn, but not yet colored in so they haven't been added to the blog yet.

And lastly, this arrived in the mail and I'm off to go have a little look-see at it now.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow.  It'll start with a 6 mile run (last week we did 12 miles), but after that I have plans to hunker down and make more stuff!!  Happy Easter everyone!!

To Bury . . . or Not to Bury??

This is a silent auction quilt made by one of my coworkers for her son's school.  For the last couple of years she has asked me to quilt the quilts for her.  So, this past weekend I quilted it up and who knew that it would take almost as much time to bury the threads as it did to quilt it?!!  The auction is a week from Friday so good luck!

So, what's the consensus . . . to bury . . . or not to bury??

Swap Meet

I got home late Friday night and found this in my mail box:
Isn't this hot pad beautiful?  I received this from my swap partner, Fiona from BubzRugz, in Australia!!  I love it!  Thanks, Fiona!

I mailed mine to my partner over a week ago, but it doesn't look like it's made it to its destination yet.  Come on, Postman, you're making me look bad!!

I'm Honored

to have been awarded the

by Jan-Maree at Cherry Red Quilter.  Thanks, Jan-Maree, I'm honored!!  So here are some fun facts about me . . .
  1. I grew up in a very large family: 6 brothers and 1 sister. They are some of my best friends.
  2. I attended Catholic school for grades 2 – 8 and was taught by nuns. I love education and learning and I wish that all kids had the same eagerness that I had when I was in school.
  3. I learned to sew when I was 12 years old and I've never stopped.
  4. I biked across Kansas in 6.5 days one year and I’ve ridden the MS150 Houston to Austin bike ride three times.
  5. I wanted to be an English teacher, but I ended up with an accounting degree, a CPA license and a Masters of Science in Taxation.  Go figure!!
  6. I learned to play soccer when I was 27 and at one time played on 4 teams a season.  I was kind of fanatical about it!!
  7. I have the best boyfriend and doggie. Bill and I have been together for around 13 years. We met playing soccer (where else?!).  He sealed the deal when he introduced me to his dog, Co, and this long time “afraid of animals” addict was a convert. Who couldn’t LOVE the doggie?? Oh, yeah, and BILL too!!
And now, I'd like to bestow the same award on to my fellow lovely bloggers:

So, go out and peruse the bloggy world and get some inspiration from our fellow bloggers and ENJOY your day!!

Clean Up Time

This past weekend I looked at my cutting table and all I saw were a million (a little exagerated) scraps that needed to be folded and put away.  I thought, man, I do not want to fold and organize all those scraps, so I decided that I would make a scrap quilt.  I've made these before and in my opinion it takes just as long to make scrap quilts as it does to make one with a design.  Oh, well.  It was fun and it kept me from having to clean the mess up.  I'm looking at the table now though and I'm not sure I've made much progress.  This is what I have so far . . .

It seems like I did a little bit more than make two blocks . . . hmm . . . oh, yeah, I braided some more scraps and added them to my mini rug.  And there was the 10 miles I ran that pretty much wiped me out for the day.

There was some envelope drawing using these:

I love my markers.  The Micron brand is really nice for very fine lines.  I need to get me some more of these markers.  One in every color, please!!

Jan-Maree over at Cherry Red Quilter awarded me a Stylish Blogger Award and next post I'll entertain you with 7 fun facts about me!!!  I know, you can hardly wait, huh?!  Thanks, Jan-Maree, I'm honored.  I'll also be passing on the award to other fellow bloggers so be sure and check out their blogs once I've posted.

As an aside to my fellow (oops, I'm not Australian!)  Aussie bloggers . . . I've discovered one of your television shows "The Strip" and I am loving the scenery!!!  Man, your water is GORGEOUS!!!  Go . . . NOW . . . and dip your toes in it for me.  I'm so jealous!!

This and That

I can't believe that the week is almost over.  I did not get a lot of sewing accomplished over the weekend, but I'm trying not to beat myself up over it!!  I managed to start and finish this little piece which is my swap piece for the hotpad exchange.

backside
I love how these woven strips turn out.  I hope my swap partner likes it.

Next up . . . I'm hoping to turn this pile of scraps (and oh, so many more!!) . . .

into my version of a braided rug.  So far I am liking the way it is turning out.

And to round out the week I did an 8 mile run Sunday morning, bike ride Monday night, 2 mile run Tuesday morning and a 3.1 mile run tonight.  It feels great especially since I just wanted to come home from work today and go to bed.  The run gave me just the energy push that I needed.  I think I can make it another day.  Yay!
