This and That

I can't believe that the week is almost over.  I did not get a lot of sewing accomplished over the weekend, but I'm trying not to beat myself up over it!!  I managed to start and finish this little piece which is my swap piece for the hotpad exchange.

I love how these woven strips turn out.  I hope my swap partner likes it.

Next up . . . I'm hoping to turn this pile of scraps (and oh, so many more!!) . . .

into my version of a braided rug.  So far I am liking the way it is turning out.

And to round out the week I did an 8 mile run Sunday morning, bike ride Monday night, 2 mile run Tuesday morning and a 3.1 mile run tonight.  It feels great especially since I just wanted to come home from work today and go to bed.  The run gave me just the energy push that I needed.  I think I can make it another day.  Yay!

I like your hot pad mat - weaving is not my bag, but I like the way this looks.

You are really moving! Runs and rugs and hot pads!

I like the idea of your woven rugs in straight lines..might try that with stuff I am now "throwing away" (shutter)..Will be an ongoing project. Question? do you hand sew or machine sew the strips together?

Love the woven hot pad. Clever girl! I think I am brewing an idea here, thanks for the spark!

Love the hot pad. Do you put the heat-resistant fabric (the kind on ironing boards)between the layers? I've been thinking of making a few hot pads with that cloth but have no idea how it sews. Would love an opinion if you've used it.

FdLQ - Yes, I used a layer of the Warm and Natural Insul-Bright batting and a layer of regular batting. I had no problems quilting it on my sewing machine. Good luck! Let me know how it turns out.
