Tea for Two

My co-worker is throwing a tea party for her daughter's sixth birthday.  It'll be complete with fancy dresses, gloves, hats, etc.  I volunteered to make little aprons for the girls.  And then decided that matching mother/daughter aprons would be nice.

This is how it started:
 Adult apron pattern
 Child's apron pattern
Used the adult pattern to round the edges of the child's apron.
 Voila!
 Added some ruffles
Put some binding on the edges and added the waistband and ties.  Easy Peasy!
 Kid's version
Momma's version

I have a few more to make and then I'm going to make some extra ones as I don't know how big the kiddos are.

I got to spend some time with my favorite guy:

The two boys ignoring each other.
Then doggie thought better of it and decided he better do guard duty again.  He's very protective of baby.
I love you this much, Auntie!!  Aw, it was a great day!!

Impact a Hero

Yesterday I ran the "Impact A Hero" 5k.  The charity was for our wounded warriers and it was awe-inspiring!  A motorcycle group of 50 or so escorted the three buses full of wounded warriers and their families to the start line.  The street was lined in American flags and patriotic music was blaring from the speakers.  One of the tents there had pictures of all of the fallen soldiers from Texas.  I'm saddened to say that there were many . . . too many!  But at the same time, I was deeply honored to speak to some of the soldiers and express my gratitude for their service.  There was a huge American flag suspended between two fire trucks.  It put a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye.

Out on the run, I saw and said hi to Gary Kubiak (Houston Texans football coach) and afterwards, I had him and Chris Myers (#55) sign my race bib.  It was a gorgeous day, albeit hot and humid, but I don't think there were any complaints.

The Rotary Club puts a flag in our yard 4 times a year.

I've been working on my charity pillowcases and I finally got smart and started doing more of a production line instead of making one pillowcase at a time.

I enjoy making these pillowcases.  It's a great way to work on the destashing of fabric!!

Last night I got inspired and felt like it was time to make aprons again so this is what i came up with:
Cute, right?!!  I have a plan for this little gem.  Hopefully I'll get up the nerve to execute it!!  Stay tuned . . .

And finally, on Friday I mailed the "secret" quilt off to its recipient.  It's scheduled to arrive tomorrow!!  Yay!

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.  I'm off to go work on the house that came complete with its own gallon-sized bag of keys!!  Renters move in in 2 weeks.
